The Mario Maker series is coming to portable.
During its 3DS-focused Direct this morning, Nintendo announced that Super Mario Maker is coming to 3DS this holiday season.
The game, launching December 2nd, will include every tool and creator mode, every skin, and every in-game feature available in the Wii U version, minus a couple of arguably key aspects.
For one, the mystery mushrooms will not be making their way to the 3DS. These special mushrooms bring new costumes for Mario, changing the avatar to mimic popular characters not only in the Mario universe but also from other games as well.
Secondly, the wildly popular online sharing modes will not be included. Creating levels locally is great, but sharing them online to hundreds of thousands of other players, or downloading levels and checking out the creativity, is the real joy of Mario Maker. Instead, levels will now be shared exclusively through local wireless (where players can actually create levels together) or Street Pass.
