During tonight’s Final Fantasy XV “Uncovered” event hosted by Square Enix, the company officially revealed the release date for the next edition in the massive JRPG series. Though it was leaked earlier today, September 30th is the date to circle, bringing to fruition a legacy that began nearly 10 years ago when the game was first known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII as a part of the FFXIII series of sequels and spinoffs.
Also announced tonight (officially) is the newest demo for the game. Platinum Demo takes place in the dream of XV‘s lead character Noctis. Made to help introduce new fans as well as satisfy existing ones, Platinum Demo will allow players to experience the game world in a sort of side story as opposed to just being a chunk of the main experience. In the demo, players can active in-game plates that, once stepped on, will changed the weather or day/night cycle live, as well as allow for play as monsters, as a way to showcase the game’s scope and environment.
Noctis will also be joined by series creature Carbuncle, who (when the demo is beaten) will become a free piece of downloadable content for the main Final Fantasy XV game.
Platinum Demo is available tonight and can be downloaded from the PSN store HERE.
