Publisher Activision announced in an official blog post that the company will not have a show floor presence at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, instead opting to take private meetings to show off what’s next for franchises like Skylanders, Call of Duty, Guitar Hero and Destiny.
“In June, we’re going to be at E3 showcasing gameplay from Infinity Ward’s ambitious new game,” the company said on its official blog. “We’re looking forward to sharing exciting new details about the next great Call of Duty game in partnership with our friends at PlayStation. We’re proud to be participating in this premier video game event, but won’t have an Activision booth on the show floor.”
This news comes hot off the heels of Electronic Arts bowing out of the traditional E3 booth space and opting instead for a press conference and off-site event open to members of the public.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Activision has elected not to have a show floor presence, as the company also did so when the show was temporarily rebranded as the E3 Media and Business Summit and relocated to Santa Monica.
