The Walking Dead‘s Michonne disappeared for several issues during the comic’s recent plotline, as tensions between her character and others flared up post-Negan. Unlike the TV series (which is still 50+ issues behind the comic books), Michonne’s backstory hadn’t been fully revealed or developed until just recently, and that gap in time seems to be crucial to her character.
A mother struggling with the needs of family and a stressful job, Michonne lost everything well before we first met her, and has been locking away her darkest memories. It’s why she’d been so stoic in her portrayal (until recently). Since her return to the comics she has been more forthcoming with Rick Grimes, and more transparent in her intentions.
At least, that’s what it all seems like, anyways.
Those three months were a doozy, apparently, and Telltale is looking to explore that and help bridge that gap with a three-episode limited series due in February. Originally announced for a Fall 2015 release, this is the first time that Telltale has devoted a full game experience to an character from the series, as the first two seasons of the main game have been side-stories set in the same world. And, since it’s separate from the TV show, it stars Samira Wiley (Orange is the New Black) as the voice of the character.
The Walking Dead: Michonne will be available on Xbox, Playstation and PC platforms, as well as Android and iOS.
