The Game Awards arrive on Thursday, December 3 this year, and we’re excited. Last year’s event brought us a ton of great game reveals, terrific moments, and OH YEAH AWARDS. The entire event may have been a tad bit too long and filled with a few awkward interviews, but it was produced extremely well, and was a great first step in the right direction for presenting video games on a big stage awards show as a viable, valuable artistic medium.
With just a few short weeks away the list of nominees has been announced, and will most definitely leave room for heated debates on message boards and social media until awards day. Topping off the list is The Witcher 3 with 7 nominations for itself and CD Projekt Red, and Metal Gear Solid V not far behind. The Game of the Year nominees include Bloodborne, Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid V, Super Mario Maker, and The Witcher 3. Categories for best handheld, RPG, action and shooter games, as well as indie and “games for change” round out a hefty list, with fan voting included in a few categories as well.
The Game Awards take place on December 3 in Los Angeles, and tickets are still available for the event here. Can’t make it in person? Have no fear; the show will be streamed on a plethora of devices and consoles, websites and mobile apps.
Have a look at the full list of nominees below, and get those bingo cards ready.
