During Sony’s TGS press conference today, SEGA hopped on stage to announce a pair of new(ish) games.
In what may be a surprise move, the original Yakuza game is being remastered for the PS4 and PS3. Though there has already been an HD remaster (paired with Yakuza 2) for the PS3 and Wii U already, Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the first game that will include new scenarios and updated gameplay, and better tie in to the rest of the series. It’s due on January 21 in Japan, with no Western release date yet set.
The publisher also formally announced a proper sequel in Yakuza 6, which will arrive in Fall 2016 (again, only announced for Japan). Kiwami will contain a code for a downloadable demo for 6. Beyond that, not much else is known about the game. Yakuza 5 is being localized (finally!) and is set to arrive this year, maybe?
More Yakuza is good, we think!
