During it’s press conference at this years Gamescom, Blizzard announced World of Warcraft: Legion, the 6th expansion to its blockbuster MMORPG. This is coming just days after reporting their lowest subscription base since the launch of the game. With the help of nostalgia from the Burning Crusade and Wrath of Lich King expansions, Blizzard remains optimistic that this will be the best expansion to date.
Legion takes place in the Broken Isles, islands Gul’dan has raised up from bottom of the sea just south of the Maelstrom. Players will begin the battle against Gul’dan prior to the expansion’s release, fighting their way to the Tomb of Sargeras and eventually leaving nowhere for this warlock to run. During Illidan’s reign over the Black Temple he had sent out an army of his most skillful demon hunters on a suicide mission; we can only assume this Legion is going to bring something horrific.
In less evil news, World of Warcraft: Legion boosts level cap to 110! Legion will bring back artifact weapons with 36 different specializations; these weapons will contain their own talent trees and also have different skins. Blizzard also introduced the all new Demon Hunter class, which will have two different DPS specs as well as a tank spec. This will be the first class to ever be able to double jump and look through walls with spectral sight!
The new PVP changes will go beyond just gear differences between PVP and PVE. Characters will now have separate PVP talent trees, choosing moves which can only be used in PVP combat. New Prestige Ranks are earned by playing more and cost you honor levels to rank up. Along with earning different mounts and unique PVP artifact weapon variants, this will keep the hardcore playing for hours on end. We will look forward to having Dalaran as our main city hub once again on the Broken Isles, along with entering the Emerald Dream as one of the new Raids.
Warlords of Draenor was short and sweet, but no one can resist fighting Illidan and his Legion once again.
Press on champions.
