The team behind The Walking Dead are having a heck of a run. The latest issues of the comics are some of the most thrilling ever, and this past season of the TV series was a non-stop roller coaster of excellence. The games are coming along nicely too, with both Overkill and TellTale working on further adventures.
So what does a company do when so much is going on with one IP? Why, DO MORE, of course!
With San Diego Comic Con kicking up its heels this week, the Skybound team and their friends have a full plate of events and things happening around TWD and its Walker Stalker fan festival, not the least of which are a few amazing crossover efforts.
Thanks to cooperative efforts between the company and developer Other Ocean, The Walking Dead and Invincible are coming to multiplayer sports title #IDARB. The collab will bring two new themed arenas, teams, half-time games and announcer calls, as it’s set to be the first actual piece of add-on content since the game released many moons ago. I’m interested to see how the properties translate into sports, and especially how they are recreated in the sub-8 bit style of the game.

The Walking Dead is also coming to indie game The Escapists. Aptly titled The Escapists The Walking Dead, the Team17-developed game will be created in the Escapists engine and feature Rick as he leads his band of comic book characters across an 8-bit world as they escape from — what else — zombies. The premises look like they should work together well.
Both games/updates will be available later this year.
Finally, in what may be the most unique idea, the voice cast of the Telltale Walking Dead series will re-enact pivotal scenes from the games live on stage in front of fans in attendance.
The voices of Lee, Clementine, and many others will be on hand to perform the show, which could bring a whole new depth to some of the most heart-wrenching moments of the games.
Everything (including hands-on with the games) will be taking place on Saturday, July 11, during the Walker Stalker Fest (link). Zombies are still popular, and it seems like The Walking Dead aren’t shambling away any time soon.
Yes, I made a pun.
