EA’s E3 Press Conference released some juicy details about Mirror’s Edge Catalyst.
This new entry into the franchise will delve into Faith’s origin story, giving insight into how the series protagonist became a Runner. This news explains why DICE was hesitant to refer to the game as a pure sequel; the trailer suggests that while the climate and core ideas of the original Mirror’s Edge will still be present, the story itself may be rebooted.
The most important (and exciting) feature is the prospect of open-world gameplay. Players will be unfettered while exploring the City of Glass, able to run races, solve puzzles, and progress the story however they see fit. The whole city will become a first-person playground free of loading screens.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will be released February 23, 2016 for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Origin for PC.
But don’t take my word for it. Watch the trailer below to see for yourself.
