This Week In Video Game Trailers

It was a great week of game trailers, as several of the big guns (pun!) of the holiday season either revealed themselves in full or gave us their latest videos. Much like movie trailers, I love to watch these and get hyped up. It’s why I love E3 press conferences so much: they show off a lot of footage, and feel a bit like the film previews at a movie theater. They’re often the best 20 minutes of my day.

Anyhoo, we’ve gathered the week’s best trailers and posted them here for your weekend viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

Above we have the full-on debut for Call of Duty: Black Ops III. The direct sequel to 2012’s BLOPSĀ II is set further into the future, where augmented humans and artificial intelligence rule war. Yes, this is the FOURTH Call of Duty in a row that is set in the future. I’m starting to miss the games set in modern times, and even World War II.

BLOPS III does move the needle in gameplay, though. It features much more open world environments, thanks in part to the move towards 4-player co-op gamneplay. The ability to create and customize our characters in the campaign seems like a no brainer, and the addition of the first playable female character in a Call of Duty game is a small, obvious change that will have big positive impacts.

Pew pew pew! Black Ops III arrives November 6, 2015.

Batman: Arkham Knight is one of the most highly anticipated games of this console generation. In the works since Arkham City, the upcoming (June!) game will open the entirety of Gotham to the bat dude and his enemies. Thankfully, he’ll have some help this time around. AK will allow players to switch between Bats, Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman as they play the game. Considering those were some of our favorite characters to play as in City, this is a welcome addition that could give us some neat new ways to play.

The latest trailer shows us those characters, and lets us know that no one is safe from the tyranny of the Arkham Knight.

Finally, Just Cause 3 looks to continue the bonkers action of the series this holiday with the newest iteration. The trailer above gives us our first look at the gameplay, with explosions, flying, explosions, cars, and more explosions.

It’s basically Fast & the Furious level of action.
