[All week long SideQuesting celebrating LEGO, one of the greatest toys of the last 100 years and a true bastion of creativity. Every day we’ll have original content submitted to us by great writers. Look, here’s one now!]
Bob Ball is a renaissance geek – having fallen in love with voice acting, LEGO, bowling, comic books, podcasting, and anything even remotely nerdy. You can listen to him on fine podcasts such as ‘PopQuizzical’, ‘Word Rango’, or the first 30 seconds of almost every episode of ‘My Brother, My Brother, and Me’.
And now we have him (for the second time!) contributing an awesome piece of work. Or is it pieces? It’s probably pieces, since he took time out of his extraordinary day to share his amazing LEGO builds with us. Come along for the journey!
You can check out his amazing work on several podcasts:
Take it away, Bob!
Above: An Avengers movie theater scene. Surely waiting for Loki to come back with popcorn before Ultron starts.
The only actual LEGO set in my collection here is the Palace Cinema.
The birthday cakes and the camera were creations I found the instructions for at http://chrismcveigh.com/cm/welcome.html. The vanilla cake I made for my own birthday, the chocolate cake and camera were for my wife’s birthday.
The Oscar was modified from some designs I found online after the Academy Awards. I fell in love with Oprah’s expression at being presented with a LEGO Oscar.
The space station floor I made after seeing a similar picture in a LEGO Space book. I fully intend on making my own space station someday. I have been collecting light grey and dark grey pieces for it at an alarming rate.
The cigars and lighters were created for some friends of mine that like cigars. It was their birthday(s) and, well, I know nothing about real cigars. So, I decided to be geeky and funny.
The Word Rango pic is because I love shameless self promotion. Even though the show is not currently being produced, I still think it’s a timeless classic.
And finally, some odds and ends of the collection.
Below is a parrot I made off of a picture I saw online of someone else’s model. This one is made completely from the Series 4 LEGO Mixels purple line. One of each of the 3 packages will make you a swell purple parrot!
