For 2014’s best games, SideQuesting is taking a different approach than in the past. We’re not hosting a definitive Game of the Year for the site, instead focusing on the individual writers and their favorites. Hopefully, you’ll be able to connect a little better with the writers that make up this little corner of the web, as many of us will be posting our Top 5 lists throughout the next week. Just a week or so from this time last year I’d already finished a brand new game. This was going to be a big year for getting back into the swing of things and finally playing the year’s big releases. Fast forward to today, and I played a grand total of four new releases this year. Fortunately, the ones I did end up playing I found to be fairly emblematic of the year in gaming as a whole, based on what colleagues and industry figures have said. So, with that in mind, I present to you my picks of the year. I wouldn’t call them my picks for the best of the year or anything, just games I played and picked to talk about, not necessarily even praise.
