On Wednesday, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara announced the studios plan to release 10 new films based on DC Comics properties over the next six years. Some of the announcements come as no surprise, as Aquaman, Cyborg and Wonder Woman will all be present in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, others, well, you can check out the list:
- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – 3/5/2016
- Suicide Squad – 8/5/2016
- Wonder Woman – 6/23/2017 (Starring Gal Gadot)
- Justice League Part One – 11/17/2017
- The Flash – 3/23/2018 (starring Ezra Miller)
- Aquaman – 7/27/2018 (starring Jason Momoa)
- Shazam – 4/15/2019 (starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson)
- Justice League Part Two – 6/14/2019
- Cyborg – 4/03/2020 (starring Ray Fisher)
- Green Lantern – 6/19/2020
Aside from titles and release dates, it was also confirmed that Zac Snyder will be directing the Justice League films, and that they will be released in two parts. Casting for nearly all of the films was confirmed as well, with the exception of the still far off Green Lantern and the ensemble cast of Suicide Squad.
All of this DC news comes on the heels of Marvel’s announcement that Robert Downey Jr. will be playing a major role in 2016’s Captain America sequel, which will introduce the comics’ Civil War event into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
