Has drafting your dream team of NFL superstars each year in the hopes of capturing your league title as well as bragging rights to lord over your friends for eight months gotten dull? If so, then the folks at Flootball.com may have just the solution for you.
Flootball.com takes the standard fantasy football premise and adds a dash of RPG elements that not only adds any extra layer of gamesmanship, but that may just be tempting enough to lure in gamers that have contemplated joining a fantasy football league in the past.
Team owners draft a team and then set a lineup each week just like any other standard fantasy football league. What makes Flootball.com unique is that each week players earn gold and random loot drops based on how well their team performs. Owners can then equip players on their team with the loot they have earned and spend they gold they earned on more equipment in the league item shop.
Player equipment includes helmets, jerseys, gloves, cleats and pants. Each item has specific perks and pitfalls that will boost points and penalties for gameday stats. Currently the items are broken down in to passing, receiving and rushing categories, but more items are expected to be added.
Another interesting twist, owners can not only trade players during the season, but they can also trade the loot that they earn and buy throughout the season.
One of Flootball.com glaring omissions right now is the lack of any mobile or tablet application support for iOS, Android or Windows Phone. Hopefully these too will come as the platform matures.
If you’ve been looking for that push to get in to fantasy football, Flootball.com may be just the nudge you’ve been looking for.
