We knew Assassin’s Creed Unity was taking place during the French Revolution, but now we have our first real look at what that will bring to the game. The trailer above showcases more of the impressive scenes of massive groups of people (that often turn into riots, it seems) as well as locations native to the Bourgeois and the regal.
In fact, there’s a definite feel as though Jacques-Louis David may have influenced at least a part of what we see, as the tones and design seem to echo his visions of that era, and the pains that it caused.
The video shows a build up of anarchy in the masses, before game protagonist Arno emerges through the chaos to strike down those corrupt leaders. Some great camera angles and lighting only help to highlight the ability that the first Assassin’s Creed game on next gen (new gen? current gen?) consoles to immerse us in a world. The amazing landscapes, views of church details, towns that go one for miles — this may be the first real action game to make our eyes bleed.
Undoubtedly like the swords that Arno will use to pierce our hearts.
Unity arrives in October for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
