As of 7:20 P.M. the crowdfunding efforts of Harmonix Music System’s reboot of Amplitude have proven successful. The project reached it’s $775,000 funding goal with 21 hours to go before the campaign’s conclusion, which will successfully bring the game to PlayStation 3 and 4 sometime in 2015.
The success of the campaign may come as a surprise of some, as the project was projected to fall drastically short of it’s goal, having only achieved about half of it’s goal as of May 20 with only three days remaining. That was before a sizable public $7,500 backing from Sunset Overdrive and Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac Games and a recent surge of support from the community.
At the time of writing, the project has attracted the support of over 12,000 backers and counting. According to the reward trackers on the Kickstarter page, three backers have donated a $10,000 or more each, if that’s not support, then I don’t really know what is.
Harmonix’s Eric Pope confirmed that should it reach completion today, stretch goals would soon follow. However, what those will be has yet to be seen.
