We’ve talk about FZD School before. The design and art school was founded by artist Feng Zhu in efforts to bring arts education to the web and Asia. Every week or so, the group puts out a fantastic tutorial video showcasing skills and tutorials in various art and design software. These usually land in the world of concept design, sometimes even jumping into gaming. It’s justifiably so, since some of the faculty has history with and works in game design.
The latest clip especially piqued my interest. Being a huge Chrono Cross fan, I thoroughly enjoyed the lush environment design, stunning visuals, and amazing cinematic cut scenes. It was a JRPG dream come true. Thankfully, FZD loves the game as well, showcasing how to create some stunning scenes in Photoshop, quickly and (seemingly) effortlessly, using just brush strokes and color.
Yes, it’s probably more difficult than they make it out to be, but for those of us who have access to a Wacom tablet this might be fun to give a whirl.
