As a huge fan of cars, the GT Academy has always been one of my favorite crossovers of games and automobiles. The competition, which tasks gamers to endure real-life trials in hopes of getting the chance to race for realz, has been taking place since 2008. Several of its winners and entrants, like Lucas Ordonez and Jann Mardenborough, have gone on to success in the professional racing world.
Last season ended with a thrilling finish in Silverstone. This year the competition is again sponsored by Nissan, taking place in India. The contestants will obviously race cars, but will also have to endure physical trials and lots and lots of mud in efforts to win the “red helmet” of the champ.
The trailer posted yesterday, and I’m totally geeked. Each season has been great, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the folks will translate their gaming skills into the real world. Plus, they’re driving 370Zs and GT-Rs, and that’s not that bad of a way to kick off the morning. Here’s where you’ll need to go to get the info: GT Academy NA Facebook page
