If only.
If only Nintendo let us have fun in our little sandboxes, porting our favorite Zeldas to everything possible. Or, at least, did stuff like this. Thankfully, intrepid fans of the series come together to do the most amazing things. In Oculus Rift 3D space.
First comes the ZeldaVR beta, recreating the OG Legend of Zelda for the NES in glorious blocky, Minecrafty 3D. You can walk around! Turn your head! It’s FPS Zelda! Everyone’s had a turn trying it, and if you have an Oculus then you should too. Ubiquitron has made this readily available via VirtualReality.IO, with a full release in March.
Then, word broke that Ocarina of Time had been ported to the Rift. The GrandDaddy of them all brings us only the forest and a bit of Kokiri Village to explore right now, though the rest should come along quickly — crappy N64 textures and all. SO FINE. Available directly through the Oculus developer forums… and downloaded into our hearts.
