As most of you may have known the infamous MMO game World of Warcraft has been around for over 9 years and with a total of 4 expansions during that time period. Blizzard decided that after 9 years of pretty much the same designs since its release back in 2004, it was finally time give the game’s characters a facelift. They already reworked the Human Female, and this time around they have been updating the Female Orc, per the latest Battle.Net blog post.
For the update, Blizzard wanted to focus on her “Warrior” side a little more, moving away from the more doe-eyed version that you see the character now in-game.
Lead Animator Steve Aguilar stated on the post:
The original female Orc’s facial expression is pretty much a blank stare, which sadly doesn’t convey much life or personality. We wanted to give her more of an edge so she would project a confident ‘Don’t mess with me!’ attitude. Now that these new high-definition models have a facial rig attached, the animators can bring to life the personality that has been so sorely missing. She now looks and feels more like you’d expect an Orc to. When you get your hands on the expansion, be sure to take a look at her talking animation, dancing animations, and emotes to see all the various expressions the team has created for her.
There is no official release date for Warlords of Draenor but keep an eye out for more possible revamps of our favorite races and genders in the coming months. Till then, For the Horde!
