Are you obsessed with gaming? You, me, all of us might be (and it’s okay)

We have our own fantastic podcasts. WE KNOW.  But we also like to share others that entertain us. Internet gaming video show BestGameShowEver has just launched a brand new YouTube channel. Their first episode focuses on ‘Signs your friend is gaming OBSESSED’. They invited a bunch of hosts from different YouTube game channels to talk about what they think are the early symptoms of being obsessed with gaming.

And, as I am writing this I am logged into World of Warcraft getting ready for a Flex Raid on my Hunter. Count me in to their analysis.

So, what is my gaming obsession? It was when I played my very first MMO, EVE Online. I am sure Steven is happy to read that. Anyways, I was at a LAN party with some of my friends. EVE was being played there, or at least spoken about, and one of my friends explained the premise to me — the whole world is in space you would be inside a space ship. A space MMO? Sold me from the start.

So, I went into work the next day and bought EVE Online, and started playing immediately. My friend got me into the corp he was in, Everlasting Vendetta, and this was where the ‘fun’ really began for me. After spending my first night in the corp that was all I could think about doing.

Going to work trying to convince people to play EVE Online.

Going home and logging in and doing my duties in the game.

There were even nights where we had to do a ‘haul day’, where you pretty much fly from one sector of space to another. And it took forever! We would start from 9pm and it would end around 4am. And I loved every moment of it. Doing something like that in a large corp and being on TeamSpeak joking around with the other members was great, and I wish I could go back and re-experience it all over again.

Do I regret being a gamer? Hell no! Do I regret being who I am? Hell no! I actually embrace the fact that I am a gamer. A Wrestling fan. A Nerd. A Geek. A Brony. An Obsessed. I think BestGameShowEver points its message to that, that it’s okay to be proud of a gaming obsession. I know I am. Are you? What game are you obsessed with?
