We’ve spoken and raved about the work that Duncan Harris is doing over at Dead End Thrills, bringing fantastic video game scenes to life through meticulous tweaking of graphics capabilities on PCs. His work stretches from the lands of Skyrim to Mario, and every where in between, to account create some absolutely stunning pieces of work.
His latest, however, might just be his best. Fans of sci-fi take note: EVE Online can still look incredible even after a decade.
Harris has captured scenes of the game with amazing quality, offering us a peak into what space flight might really feel like — awe, amazement, and ethereal serenity. Or at least some spectacular desktop images. The pieces look like concept art to some next gen masterpiece, not from a game launched in 2003. The use of lighting and contrast in Visitors and in Saboteurs has me giddy, and if you’ve managed to see Gravity then his piece Dead Drop might make you tingle.
Really, Mr Harris you’ve outdone yourself.
Have a look at his EVE pieces here, on his main website, where you should probably spend the next 1-2 hours in joy.
