Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze

There seems to be a theme here. Months after releasing NSMB2 for the 3DS, Nintendo rolled out NSMBU for the Wii U. Now, just a few months after releasing Donkey Kong Country Returns for the 3DS the company has announced the forthcoming release of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the Wii U.

Thankfully, DKCR 3D is a fantastically fun game, and DKC:TF looks beautiful, or else we’d be upset.

Naw, just kidding dawg… This is Donkey Kong Country, and it looks great.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Breeze is yet another installment in the series developed by Retro Games, the company that we were all hoping was actually working on a new Metroid Prime game. Alas, it appears as though they’re not. Thankfully, they did a smashup job with the Wii’s DKCR and so giving them the reigns on its sequel is a not a bad thing. In this edition, we get glorious HD visuals of forests and deserts and mine carts. We also get Dixie Kong making her return appearance as a selectable character.

The game is due this year on Wii U, so expect a full hands-on this week from us.
