Nintendo hopes you really like Mario Kart, and that you don’t pick up a PS4 or Xbone this year. The company has just taken the wraps off of Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U, and announced that it’ll be arriving in 2014 for the console.
The new game features all your favorites: a ton of wild tracks, powerups, and the Mario cast. If that wasn’t enough to turn you on, the game also has online multiplayer!
Okay, all joking aside the game does have a nicely updated visual style, focusing on shadow and texture effects in HD. The tracks appear wider, the courses bigger, and plenty to do surrounding the game. Yes, just like its console rivals, Nintendo is integrating video capture and sharing into its own racing game. Called “Mario Kart TV”, the feature will allow for recording of video that can be shared via MiiVerse, and possibly by default on the web as well, since MiiVerse is accessible there.
We’ll have our hands-on with Mario Kart 8 very soon, and will key you in later.
Get it? Keys? Because cars?
Never mind.
