Last year’s Tokyo Game Show saw the announcement for a remake of Muramasa: The Demon Blade — a gorgeous, 2D, action-RPG from Vanillaware — for the Vita.
Unfortunately, while the game was slapped with a March release in Japan, it was never actually confirmed for release across the water. This left hungry, English-speaking Vita owners worried they’d never see it at all.
Aksys Games has mercifully shattered that tension, however, by announcing an English release of Muramasa Rebirth.
According to Aksys’ announcement, Muramasa Rebirth will include “hi-res graphics, enhanced controls, a complete relocalization in English, and more!” The post also mentions post-release DLC and the ability to “Play in four additional scenarios as different characters!”
Unfortunately, there is no release date listed on either the original post or the game’s new home page.
Aksys Games is best known for doing English localizations Japanese games. If you’ve ever played either 999 or Virtue’s Last Reward, you know they’ve done some absolutely top-notch work. Having recently gotten sucked into Virtue’s Last Reward myself I’m absolutely thrilled to hear about Aksys’ localization.
I’ve never actually played the original Wii version myself, but SideQuesting’s own Dalibor Dimovski has expressed to me a more-than-borderline romantic love for the title in the past. Consider me appropriately excited.
