The holidays are an excellent time of year to hang out with family and friends, enjoy some time off of work, and get ready for the coming of a brand new year. Next year, 2013, may be one of the most anticipated ever in terms of movies, music, video games and technology. In fact in media, the destruction of the world seems to be a huge theme for films.
Leading the charge is the reboot of Superman. Above you can see the epic new trailer for Man of Steel, the first to really show us the new costume, stars, and hero’s background. There’s an oncoming extra-terrestrial threat, and the emergence of Superman is the only thing that can save us.
Below, Last of Us is one of the big games of Spring. Dealing with a post-apocalypse and some sort of infection, the survivors must learn to adapt in this new world. It’s one of our most anticipated games of next year, and should be on your lists too.
Tom Cruise is the star of the upcoming Oblivion, based on the comic of the same name, which features him returning to Earth sixty years after an alien war. It features designs by Daniel Simon, whom you might remember as the designer of all of the vehicles in Tron.
Last for today is the first trailer for M Night Shyamalan’s newest film, After Earth. Starring Will and Jaden Smith, the film also has the two returning to a post-apocalyptic Earth, but one that has evolved past humans. Think of it like going so far forward into time that giant beasts have re-evolved.
