Bethesda Game Studio’s official Twitter feed dropped a message today saying that new content for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is “close” for PC and PS3.
The fact that new content is on its way to PC is no big surprise. Skyrim players on PC already got the game’s first two pieces of downloadable content — Dawnguard and Hearthfire — earlier this year. However, this comment might have significantly more weight for Playstation 3 users, who have yet to see any of the game’s DLC hit their preferred platform.
The PS3 version of Skyrim has been plagued with console-specific issues since it was released. Those bugs apparently made releasing the game’s downloadable expansions on Sony’s console something of an obstacle. Fixing it was such an ordeal that the company had to reach out to Sony for help.
Kotaku wrote an article in September with several quotes from Sony Vice President Adam Boyes detailing the situation.
“We work with all of our partners to try and solve their problems,” Boyes said. “We have a big, broad dev support team that works closely with Bethesda—and with all of our partners—to work with them to solve that any sort of issues they have along the way.”
I’ve reached out to Bethesda and the BSG_Devs Twitter feed for clarification on the statement and will update when and if they respond.
