Take-Two experiences net loss of $108.8 million, 3 million units of Payne, Max Payne 3 on PC

At an afternoon investor call, Take-Two ended their fiscal year with revenues of $825.8 million, with an overall net loss of $108.8 million. Chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick justified the loss, saying fiscal 2012 was “a year of creative, operational, and strategic achievement by our Company.” Zelnick praised L.A. Noire and 2K12 for setting new standards of excellence and growing their digitally available content. The investor’s call also reported that Rockstar’s Max Payne 3 has shipped 3 million units and is scheduled to be released on PC June 1. Sorry about the Payne pun.

X-Man Northstar proposes to boyfriend in Astonishing X-Men #50

In Astonishing X-Men #50, out tomorrow, by Marjorie Liu and Mike Perkins, Northstar, Marvel’s first openly-gay character, will propose to his boyfriend, also becoming the first gay character to get married. It’s a shame then that they’ll both probably die and resurrect in a year or two in the wake of this summer’s Avengers vs. X-Men crossover, or maybe turn into cyborg harpies like The Hulk’s wife. Comic books!

38 Studios financial trouble

Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios layoffs confirmed

The continually developing situation at 38 Studios just got a little bit worse today. Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee told reporters the subject of a meeting he was leaving was layoffs at the studio. Chafee didn’t confirm the number of layoffs the study will be having, referring to it only as “a number of layoffs.” Schilling himself clarified that 38 Studios is not seeking any more money from taxpayers.
