Welcome to our new weekly feature here at SideQuesting, the Weekly Nintendo Download. Every Thursday at Noon EST, Nintendo releases new digital content for the 3DS, Wii, and DSi. Let’s see what Ninty has to offer us this week.
It’s Thursday, and you know what that means…new downloads for Nintendo systems. I’m Patrick Wainwright, bringing you a first glance at this week’s offerings. This is a light week with only three new titles and no Virtual Console games.
1) Zombie Slayer Diox for the 3DS eShop.
First up is a new zombie game for the 3DS. The catch is that you fight zombies with the power of rock. Take on the role of a samurai guitarist and fight off the horde. The action is all rhythm based.
2) 1st Class Poker and Blackjack for the 3DS eShop and DSiWare.
I have never been a fan of virtual poker, blackjack, or any gambling game. A lot of the excitement is gone when there is no actual money on the line. I doubt this title will change my mind especially at the, relatively steep for a card game, price of $5.
3) Carmen Sandiego Adventures in Math: The Island of Diamonds for WiiWare
This is our final title today and the latest in an apparently long line of Carmen Sandiego games for WiiWare. I’m sure many of you have fond memories of tracking down Carmen on Computers many, many years ago. Unfortunately, this game is math based and focused on 4th and 5th grade. I think that puts in well below the math skills of anyone reading this column.
This week was a bit of a dud for the Weekly Nintendo Download. This week earns my first pass. I recommend you go dig around in the virtual stores to find more entertaining titles. Hopefully, next week will bring us more bountiful downloads.
