Did you know that there are OTHER podcasts on iTunes besides those that your masterful crew at SideQuesting creates? Yeah, it came as a shock to us as well. That’s why we launched OPP (two years ago) in hopes to share some of these shows with you, especially the good ones.
Today we are going to take a look at Pop Quizzical, the show that friend of the site Bob Ball revealed to SideQuest listeners back on Episode 314.
What’s it about?
Pop Quizzical is a pop quiz show, strangely enough. Every other week esteemed host Bob Ball sits you down for a few minutes (usually 10-15) and quizzes you, the listener on subjects that you quite honestly should know something about. Ranging from pop culture to usage of the English language, Pop Quizzical has you covered. Bob Ball does an excellent job every episode of coming up with creative questions that you won’t know, but may actually like knowing after you get them wrong.
What’s the audio quality like?
Bob Ball has several microphones that cost more than my computer, and with me, that is saying something. But what good is a high-quality mic if the person talking into it sounds like Gilbert Gottfried on speed? Well, I dunno, because Bob Ball’s pipes are bitchin’. Pop Quizzical flourishes because of the audio production. A high bit rate allowing the ambient music and sound effects to flow through show that Mr. Ball cares what goes into your ear holes.
In Conclusion…
Pop Quizzical is what would happen if Cookie Masterson from You Don’t Know Jack started a podcast. Since that isn’t going to happen any time soon, Bob Ball jumped in and filled the role and is doing an excellent job. Give it a listen, the short ‘cast makes it easily accessible and won’t overburden you with…what’s that thing called? Oh, yea, that’s it: Thinking.
