Are we sick of remakes yet?
This week, Sony shared more details about the Vita in its pre-TGS press conference. One bit of news that was shared was that the PS2 great Final Fantasy X would be released in HD for the Vita and PS3. The news lit up Twitter with comments of “why not Final Fantasy VII?” or “sweet!” or “another effin’ remake?” all night. Looking back on the last couple of years, remakes have become the norm. Just this fall season alone we’ll be receiving remakes of Star Fox 64, Halo, Street Fighter 3, Ico, HD versions of the PSP God of War games, and more. It’s beyond being a trend now. But why? Are we succumbing and buying these remakes enough for publishers to continue pushing them? Are we happy buying great old games, or are we sick of it?
