If you’re a Twitter user, then I’m sure by now you’ve seen the weekly #ff hashtag show up. The tag, which is a shortened form of #followfriday, indicates the Tweeter’s (Twitterer? Tweetist?) showcase of recommended people to follow. Our team at SideQuesting follows several great people in the gaming industry, from journalists to developers, critics to other gamers, and we’d love to share these folks with you. Each week, we’ll be selecting one interesting person in the industry to follow on Twitter for a variety of reasons. Come back every Friday to see who gets the award.
For this, the first weekend after September’s SUPER TUESDAY, we look to gaming veterans to guide us through a tunnel lined with mega game releases. One in particular keeps a light shining on us as we run our hands over the darkened sticky walls of Resistance 3 and Dead Island.
That man: Giant Bomb’s Jeff Gerstmann, the gaming industry’s Huggy Bear.
If you’ve never heard of Giantbomb.com before, you’re most certainly in the minority. A relative newcomer in games journalism, Giant Bomb has made quite a name for itself featuring unique takes and opinions on the industry from a talented staff that is less concerned with getting that ten second world exclusives and more so with just loving video games. And it certainly doesn’t hurt Giant Bomb’s street cred when its founding father, Mr. Gerstmann, is this damned funny.
When he and the rest of the Giant Bomb crew aren’t laying down the tastiest of licks he can usually be relied upon to offer up some sage wisdom drawn from his own culinary habits. We’re not trying to imply that Young Jeff is too busy to get any real writing done as he certainly doesn’t shy away from getting to the bottom of the truly hard-hitting stories, either.
Jeff Gerstmann, this is your time! This is your place! This is your Twitter feed! If your Tweets were a beautiful woman we’d totally bring her down to the Quad for a quick make-out sesh’ before taking you out to Applebee’s.
You can follow Jeff Gerstmann on Twitter at Twitter.com/jeffgerstmann.
