Should Microsoft abandon the Xbox in Japan?
“Horrid sales. Retailer backlash. Motion-peripheral failures. Bad publicity. Public perception. Lack of exclusives. Last-ditch efforts.” These buzz words may sound like they’re being written on the Nintendo Wii’s tombstone in the US, but in fact they’re a summary of the Xbox 360’s life in Japan. Microsoft has done its best to push their console onto the Asian market, but the cultural divide and the dominance of Nintendo and Sony have kept it to an extreme niche. The Xbox brand will never sell in Japan.
Our question to you: Is it time that Microsoft stop investing in developing a console for the market, and instead look at over avenues to make profit? Should it leave it all together, or keep trying?
