We here at SideQuesting are nerds. Nerds aren’t only into video games, they can also be movie nerds, music nerds and sports nerds. This is common knowledge, but my nerdity will once again be helpful to you. Grand Poobah Dali gave me permission to write a weekly post rounding up the best upcoming and expiring titles on Netflix Instant. Everyone that has Netflix knows some of the movies are hits, but many of them are just filler meant to pad out their numbers.
I will go through each weeks releases and post movies hitting that I like or were a critical/commercial success. Important note to my international friends: Sorry folks, this is US Netflix only.
Most weeks this post will be defined by the number of movies being added to the Instant Watch service. This week, it is really about those movies that are leaving. I will, however, start out with the positive:
Movies this week:
May 6th
Kick-Ass – Based on the graphic novel series of the same name, this critical and commercial success of 2010 stars an ensemble cast that includes Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Aaron Johnson and Nicolas Cage. Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) is a high school student that decides to become a crime fighter named Kick-Ass, which pushes him into the spotlight. Just a warning: Some R movies are okay for kids, this one is not.
My Best Friend’s Wedding – I know many of our readers have significant others, and if you want to win some points, select this movie. – In this movie Julia Roberts plays Julianne Potter, a food writer that is secretly in love with her best friend, but only realizes this when he is set to be married. So, the trickery and sabotage of her friend’s wedding begins.
That is all for new, good releases. It is a slow week for content being added.
What’s Popular on Netflix:
Over the last few days, the most popular movies on Netflix Instant are Greedy, All Good Things and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. While all of these movies have a rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes, at least people aren’t queuing up The Skeleton Key 2: 667 Neighbor of the Beast, and yea, that is a real movie.
Nearly Sour Milk:
I dictate what I watch in my 127 movie queue by what is closest to expiration. If you don’t know what is about to expire, then you may miss some gems. So here are some of the biggest movies that are going to be gone, come next Sunday:
Expiring May 5th
Expiring May 6th
All of these movies are good in their own right. I recommend checking them out before they are gone.
