It’s been a great month, but alas the contest came to a close this past weekend. The entries were terrific, each capturing futurism and video games in hot rod design. The innovation was truly wonderful to see! After several days of reviewing the entries, Dwayne emailed me and informed me just how difficult the task was. There were so many great ideas that it was hard to choose!

Dwayne has even been generous enough to give 1st-3rd place each a copy of his upcoming book, the Hot Rod Art Book: Masters of Chicken Scratch Volume 2.

There was one concept, however, that stood out among the rest, capturing the essence of the contest’s guidelines while remaining fun and cool and unique. You can find that winner below, along with the rest of the Top 3 designs and the honorable mentions.

2nd Place: Thomas Clavet

This concept looks thick, mean and aggressive, thanks to the forward slope of the body. The rendering is gorgeous.

1st Place Winner: Tom McDowell

From the terrific, loose rendering, to the unique split-wheel design, to the application of materials (like carbon fiber and riveted-steel) Tom’s concept looks fun to drive! The ram air intake and the rotating rear wheels are unique and innovative ideas!
