If you’re a Twitter user, then I’m sure by now you’ve seen the weekly #ff hashtag show up. The tag, which is a shortened form of #followfriday, indicates the Tweeter’s (Twitterer? Tweetist?) showcase of recommended people to follow. Our team at SideQuesting follows several great people in the gaming industry, from journalists to developers, critics to other gamers, and we’d love to share these folks with you
Each week, we’ll be selecting one interesting person in the industry to follow on Twitter for a variety of reasons. Thus far, we’ve featured the likes of Jim Sterling, Ben Kuchera, and Ken Levine, to name just a few. Come back each Friday to see who gets the award; it’s kind of like a reverse hernia, only with more handshakes and chest thumps.
This week’s “person who took down bin Laden” is Ryan Davis, King of Giant Bomb.
If there’s one word to describe Ryan Davis, it’s probably “shutyourmouthanddanceyoudamnnerd!” Okay, that’s not really a word, but Ryan’s not really a normal game industry person. You see, as shown in the image above, he’s obviously from the tribe of Nosferatu. In fact, I still find it confounding how he manages to stay awake during the day, since we all know vampires sleep in coffins from 8am-8pm.
For instance, how can nightwalkers chat about Assassin’s Creed sequels in broad daylight? Are they not scared away by evil-thwarting music from the 90s? How can Davis not be wary of angering Olympians? Perhaps he’s bionic.
Regardless, we let it pass when he drops truth bombs about the state of the industry, even if he needs to drop an f-bomb along the way. God damn, he fuckin’ swears a lot.
Ryan Davis, fix the autocorrect and let the world know: Today you are the Champion of the Internet. Love, Team SideQuesting.
Ryan can be followed at @taswell
