The Evening Report: The Return

The Evening Report: The Return

The triumphant return of the Evening Report! That’s right, after a week (or more) of being busy as as hell and recuperating from PAX East, I finally have enough time to give you guys the news that you need, and nothing more. Before I tease you with the stories I have lined up for you, check out our Light Cycle design contest that we are running that will surely bring some cool prizes, maybe even to you.

Onto the news: we have 3DS launch game deals, a new competing app store and a possible HD Resident Evil collection.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Resident Evil 4 are two of my favorite games of all time, let alone my favorite RE games. So when Anoop Gantayat of Andriasang got a tip this evening via the latest issue of Famitsu about a remastered bundling of the two, I jumped for joy (and subsequently fell in agony when I hit my head on my ceiling fan). It looks like the full title will be “Resident Evil Revival Selection HD Remastered Version”. Wuite the mouthful. Ridiculous name and all, we feel this is will end up being pretty accurate.

Check back to SideQuesting for further information on the collection.

If you are buying a 3DS, you probably don’t have much extra money for buying the needed games. So it is probably a good thing that Toys ‘R’ Us is offering a buy one get one half off deal, right? Check out the source for a link to participating locations.  And be sure to take a look at K-Mart’s deal: buy the 3DS and get $25 off of a 3DS game.

Another new app store, this one coming from Amazon. You can’t download it through the Android Marketplace though, you will have to visit Amazon directly and install it through a download link. Good news though: they have exclusives such as Angry Birds: Rio and will be offering a paid app for free every day. Good reason to keep checking it out.

I often play games on Steam with several of my friends. We all live scattered about the country, so LANing isn’t an option. We could use the current Steam voice chat client, but pardon my French, that shit is whack. Instead we butter our potatoes with that sweet, sweet Skype machine. However, from now on we may be able to use Steam Voice as they are now using SILK (the Skype codec). I look forward to being able to actually chat inside of Left 4 Dead 2. I’m sure the upcoming Portal 2 had something to do with this decision.
