PAX East can’t get here soon enough…for those attending anyway. For the rest of you, well, sorry. At least there will be more news rolling in. Silver lining! So, I really had to spend some time finding a few stories worth your time today. I feel I deserve a medal after this. I even had to go to Kotaku, although, the experience didn’t totally suck. I found out that if you visit their Canadian site it won’t slow down your world. And yes, that picture is legit.
Super Rumor: In 2008 Activision applied for a trademark for Dance Hero. Nobody payed attention as at that point Activision was trademarking every word in the dictionary followed by ‘Hero’. Kotaku seems to think they are going to do something with this trademark, though they don’t mention at all why they think this — no mention of a source, they could be guessing for all I know. They do say that they’ve contacted Activision for clarification, so we will update you guys when they get updated… or if someone else breaks the story first.

Guys, Pokémon Black/White combined to sell over one million units on launch day, in the U.S. Alone. That is a lot of Pokémon. However, with over 10,000 fans waiting in line at Nintendo World in NYC it isn’t really that surprising I suppose. If you haven’t gotten any of the games for the DS, I recommend plopping down the cash for a copy. I mean, Pokémon is always fun.

Not often do you see features and editorials show up in our news report, so to date this is only our second. I am doing so because Ben Kuchera of Ars Technica wrote a fantastic piece about an event at GDC that involved Ryan Creighton of Untold Entertainment hording a bag full of gold coins just to get his chance to speak at a panel. Normally you would think a guy this passionate would be allowed his chance to speak, however author Jane McGonigal wanted to hear herself talk. Again. It’s not like she has an hour long keynote speech this week at PAX East to say her fill (not to mention being on several panels at GDC.
Anyway, Ryan Creighton had to steal these gold coins to win and he was labeled a cheater. After being informed about this, the organizers of GDC wanted to hear what he thought was worth public humiliation, so he was allowed to take the stage. Without spoiling anything, you’d be doing yourself a great favor to hop over to Ars and read the account that Ben has put together… it’s a good one.
