If you’re a Twitter user, then I’m sure by now you’ve seen the weekly #ff hashtag show up. The tag, which is a shortened form of #followfriday, indicates the Tweeter’s (Twitterer? Tweetist?) showcase of recommended people to follow. Our team at SideQuesting follows several great people in the gaming industry, from journalists to developers, critics to other gamers, and we’d love to share these folks with you.
Each week, we’ll plan on selecting one interesting person in the industry to follow on Twitter for a variety of reasons. Consider this the ultimate highest honor for an individual who tweets about how much they’re addicted to Rebecca Black’s Friday or their take on that whole Libya thing. Either way, it’s a classy reflection on society. Consider coming back each Friday to see who gets the award.
This week’s belated (by a day!) award goes to… Joystiq’s Dave Hinkle
Dave’s a superstar. He’s been writing about games for years now, and his time on the Xbox 360 Fancast has created a strong following and several friends, known lovingly as Team [Joy]. During their recent PAX East live show, Dave and Co. focused the entire show on the fans.
But, it’s his tweets these last few weeks which have made him great to follow. From interacting with fans (which all have become his friends) to his ability to recall great 80s memories, Dave uses Twitter more like an ongoing conversation with the internet rather than a feed of his posts.
Personally, I appreciate when Dave throws out the random comment towards a TV show, game, or event, as it can provide a nice chuckle throughout the day. In fact, he’s gotten me hooked on Girl Talk, among other things.
Dave, consider yourself to be a #WINNER in our books. You’ve earned the HIGHEST HONOR a human can have this week: The SideQuesting Follow Friday.
Now, go in the corner and make out with yourself… you’ve earned it!
