The gaming deals presented to gamers this week have been epic. First we were presented with cheap handhelds, followed by state-of-the-art “console” systems and finally met with futurist devices.
The week started off with, OnLive announcing a deal that HomeFront pre-order patron’s would not only received a complimentary copy of Metro 2033, but also a free OnLive gaming micro system. This could be the first step in OnLive’s push to become a gaming platform. I fell for the trap and will report back, once my console arrives this March.

The weekend console price war was followed by the announcement that PSP’s would be priced at a cool $129 for the remained for their stock. While this move is more than likely entirely due to the upcoming, NGP or Next Generation Portable, that is no reason for you not to snag a handsome deal like this on a portable system just days before you board a plane for PAX East; You are coming to PAX East, Right?

The final bit of portable console news is the fact that Nintendo sold out of all available 3DS console packs in Japan during the continental release window. While this release shortage may come as a shock to some, just remember that with each and every child left without, an angel gets its wings. Hopefully later this year Timmy will get his console, instead of Clyde getting his wings.

On a brighter note, let’s end the week with a gaming documentary in tribute to the Oscars tonight. Gamers has recently become available on Hulu. While this gamer-based documentary may not ease the tension at the water cooler Monday morning when someone bring up the film that earned the title of top film at the Oscars, you will be able to response snidely about the indie film you watch this weekend.
