If you’re a Twitter user, then I’m sure by now you’ve seen the weekly #ff hashtag show up. The tag, which is a shortened form of #followfriday, indicates the Tweeter’s (Twitterer? Tweetist?) showcase of recommended people to follow. Our team at SideQuesting follows several great people in the gaming industry, from journalists to developers, critics to other gamers, and we’d love to share these folks with you.
Each week, we’ll plan on selecting one interesting person in the industry to follow on Twitter for a variety of reasons. Consider this the ultimate highest honor for an individual who likes to talk about their lunch, or how much they dislike one of the Kardashian sisters. Either way, it’s a classy reflection on society. Consider coming back each Friday to see who gets the award.
This first megalomaniac… err, interesting person, is Ben Kuchera of Ars Technica.
For those who may not be following Ben, we’ve selected him because of his insane live play-by-play of the AIAS awards last night. With comments such as “They are so overestimating the awareness of Bing Gordon in this room.” and his clear appreciation of one of my 2010 favorites, “Sports! Let’s all applaud politely! Enslaved is a fucking sport…“, Ben injected a good bit of humor into the night.
Those of us that didn’t attend DICE this year sure felt like we were sitting in front of the guy in the movie theater who comments every time an implausible scene takes place. You know, THAT guy.
Not only did Mr Kuchera do a great job last night, but he also holds a day job as Gaming Editor of Ars Technica, regularly dropping gaming knowledge over his Tweets.
Mr Kuchera, hold your head up high today. You’ve accomplished this week’s HIGHEST HONOR.
