Welcome to the latest update to SideQuesting, version 2.0! We’ve spent the better part of the last two months working to put this together, so that we can better bring you the latest features, podcasts and articles much easier. Our focus has been to make the site more interactive, so that our friends and readers feel like they have some level of ownership each time they log on.
We’ve made several enhancements, both visual and back-end, that we’d like to guide you through.
First, you’ll notice that at the top of this article we have an image of our new mascot! The little pixelated rubber ducky will be popping up all over the place on our site and in our contests and community. Expect to see him (her? it?) in as many awkward situations as possible.
Facebook integration is a big push for us as well. We instituted the “Like” button into our articles recently in an effort to help you better share your favorite articles. We’ve started up our Facebook fan page to help meet other SideQuesters (our message boards will go offline for a bit). And, we’ll be looking at expanding even further into social media with more Facebook and Twitter initiatives throughout the year. Expect the community aspect to be a big push, with upcoming game nights and other get-togethers included.
Our layout has obviously undergone an overhaul. Our feature stories will now be much more accessible at the top of the page, and we’ve minimized the amount of links on our navigation to keep you from needing to click around to find what you’re interested in.
As the site is an outlet for the creativity of the writers, we’ve begun updating our About and Staff pages. Soon, you’ll be better able to get to know who’s articles you are reading as we humanize the staff more. (We’re planning on removing all zombifying incantations in the process).
It’s safe to say that we still have several new features we have yet to implement, but those are coming. While we get the tweaks and bumps out over the next week or two, we hope you’ll enjoy the improvements we’ve made thus far.
