We knew it was coming. Rumored for almost since the original made its debut last year (and became my personal GOTY) EA revealed this week that Dead Space 2 was in the pipeline and being developed! While no release date was given, a rumored early 2011 date sounds promising. Heck, it can’t take THAT long for the returning Isaac Clarke to flee the Ishimura on his way to Sprawl, a space station built on a moon orbiting Saturn. Last I checked, sub-hyper warp drives were able to traverse that length in under 2 minutes.
The latest issue of Game Informer magazine has a nice 10-page spread on the game, mentioning that multiplayer will be included in some form (hopefully co-op instead of deathmatch, right?) and that zero-g environments will also allow for free-floating/flying. Sprawl is also noted as being much larger than the Ishimura and having themed “wings” much like the themed floors of the fated planet cracker.
Color us giddy, especially after playing the Dead Space Extraction prequel and catching up on the incredibly detailed backstory of the series.
