Dead Space: Extraction is one game I saw at E3 that I am dying to play at home. Being a Dead Space fan, I find myself watching anything related to the series. In comes this video, a description of the controls in the Wii “guided shooter”. From the looks of things, Visceral have done a pretty damn fine job of making the experience on the Wii as entertaining and interactive as possible without being bogged down by traditional on-rails mechanics. They genuinely looked like they had a fun time designing this game.
The team explains the controls and the features that go along with it, like the now-infamous “glow worm” and ability to turn your WiiMote sideways to access a weapon’s alt-fire mode. The example shown is of a window that can be riveted shut to keep the enemies from pouring through. My fave: the co-op puzzle mode that occurs when facing certain situations. In it, a puzzle pops up on the screen that must be solved by both players; taking turns solving it is required, as is doing so while besting beasties and baddies in a bastion of beheadings.
Check out the video, and do some learning.
