Those of you looking to wet your whistle with some Mass Effect might be in luck this week. The Biofeed and MassEffect2 Twitter accounts have said that there may be news this week regarding the upcoming Mass Effect DLC. The first and only (thus far) Mass Effect DLC pack was called “Bringing Down the Sky” and was released more than a year ago on March 10, 2008 on the Xbox Live Marketplace (people playing on computers had to wait until July 2008). The expansion featured a sidequest that pitted Commander Shepard against Batarian terrorists (pictured above). Thanks to Twitter, we’ve got treats for fans of the IP. So, if you’ve got the shakes after being teased with Mass Effect 2 at E3, it’s possible that you will find out more about your next fix in the very near future.
Biofeed and MassEffect2 tweet: “Getting the feeling some news about the next ME1 DLC may be coming this week. Keep your eyes peeled. – Evil Chris”
We presume that Evil Chris is Bioware’s Community Coordinator, Chris Priestley. Hopefully, this means that fans may be getting a release date this week. Mass Effect project director, Casey Hudson, has mentioned in the past that players will be treated to a more “combat oriented” experience and will be finding themselves in a “casino-gaming-fight-club-space-station” in the next DLC pack (we can’t help but be reminded of Final Fantasy VII’s Battle Arena at Gold Saucer). So, more fighting! “The brave do not fear the grave!” Okay, we’re done with the Final Fantasy VII references for now..
It’s important to keep in mind that a “feeling” should not been taken as a guarantee. However, Evil Chris’ tweet lets fans know that BioWare hasn’t forgotten, and that the DLC is coming (soon?). We’ll be readying our omni-tools and amplifiers in the meantime.
