A Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition game might be headed to Switch

Rated R for REEEEEEMIIIIIX

NES Remix (and Remix 2) were fantastic collections of games for the Wii U, bringing hacked versions of classic 8-bit games filled with a huge variety of mini-challenges. It’s been over a decade since that first game released, and we’re not getting it back any time soon, but we may be coming up on something similar.

A listing via the ESRB has popped up for “A Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition” for the Nintendo Switch. Here’s the description:

“This is a collection of 2D challenges and platformer games in which players traverse through various modes (e.g., speedrun, survival). Several challenges involve reaching specific points, while others prompt players to defeat small enemies or survive brief battles. Some games depict pixelated characters using small swords or arrows to strike at enemies; enemies typically get stunned or disappear in a flash.”

Typically when a game hits the ESRB it means that it’s nearing release, usually a few months out. Many of the most recently reviewed listings are for games dropping between now and the end of July. That means that whenever this game gets announced it may land on our Switch soon, and may not need a Nintendo Direct to announce it. Last year Nintendo announced Everybody 1-2 Switch via Tweet and launched it a month or later, so we may very well see a similar situation here.

Whenever it’s announced!
