Yars-vania?
Yars: Rising isn’t what one would think about when one thinks about Yars. First, it’s not an insect shooter — it’s a Metroidvania. Second, it doesn’t focus on retro nostalgia visuals; it’s modernized, handled by WayForward to give a 2.5D look.

In the game players take control of hacker Emi Kimura, known as “Yar” to the hacking community, as she tries to get to the bottom of a conspiracy that eventually leads her into some wild sci-fi situations. Maybe she even gets wings! The trailer shows off the 2.5D gameplay and even includes some Yars’ Revenge callbacks in the form of hacking “shooter”.
Wild. But sure!
Yars: Rising arrives in late 2024 on all platforms.
