Trial by (new) combat
Square Enix has revealed that a full remake of Trials of Mana is on the way. The game, known as Seiken Densestsu 3 in Japan, is the sequel to ultra-popular Secret of Mana. With a Western port of the series three-game collection coming to the West (actually, it’s here now) the company took the time to reveal that it was going all in for the third game in the series.
Trials of Mana is an action RPG that puts players into a world where forces are trying to awaken 8 evil beings trapped in Mana stones. The remake will shift the game from an overhead perspective to a full 3D experience, complete with towns and overworld traversal.
The development staff took the time to showcase the game during Nintendo’s Treehouse Live Stream this week at E3, giving insight into the gameplay. While the original included multiplayer, this remake will not, instead focusing on a single player experience that emphasizes more action in the series than ever before. The game will be full-voiced for the majority of its characters and cutscenes.
Trials of Mana will launch in 2020 for Switch, PS4 and PC.
