The G-company is announcing… something.
Google will be hosting a special reveal at GDC next month. The company has sent out invitations for an event to presumably showcase their major jump into the gaming industry. Android-based consoles can be found all over the place, and rumors over the years have floated a Google- or Chrome-based console, but this is the first time that the company might make its push known.
Late last year, it unveiled Project Stream, a method of playing full-scale games streamed through a browser window, with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey as the showpiece. Could that be part of its announcement? Might we play big-budget and indie games on any device we own with a Chrome browser? Or is it something different?
The event takes place March 19 at 10 AM at the Moscone Center during GDC.
