Well this is a surprise. While many expected a bigger 2DS table at some point, it looks like Nintendo is meshing together the 3DS and 2DS into one device: the New Nintendo 2DS XL.
Coming July 28th, the new New device is essentially a New 3DS XL in a new shell, without the 3D. Aimed at kids, the device appears sturdier, with softer edges and light blue accents in the buttons, D-Pad and edge.
Also changing: the addition of ZL & ZR buttons, bigger screens (XL size) and built-in NFC reader for amiibo. Retailing at $149.99, it’s unknown if the device will replace the 2DS or be yet another handheld in the 3DS family.
With the Nintendo Switch recently released to mega sales numbers, and the rumors of a Super NES Mini console, it’s a busy year for Nintendo and hardware.
FOr what it’s worth, Japan is also getting a white/orange combination console. WHICH I WANT.
